110. Line 1. After the word "allowance" the figure (1) has been inserted. In lines 2 and 3 the words "or of his dependants for not more than two months" have been omitted.

Line 6. For the words, "these periods" the words "this period" have been substituted.

The following has been added as sub- paragraph (2): "An Officer will not be eligible for the rent allowance laid down for officers with depen-*- dants unless his dependants reside with him in the Colony for a period of at least one year in each normal tour of duty".

111. Paras (1), (2) and (3) have been deleted and the following substituted therefor:

"(1) An officer without dependants who shares premises with one or more other officers may draw the rent allowance appropriate to an officer with depandants; in which case no rent allowance shall be payable to the officer or officers with whom the premises are shared.

(2) If two or more officers not

entitled to free quarters share a set of quarters, the rent paid shall be the highest which any one of the officers would pay if he were the sole occupier.

(3) If quarters are shared by an officer entitled to free quarters

with one or more officers not so entitled,

the rent payable shall be half of the highest rent which any one of the officers not entitled to free quarters would pay if he were the sole occupier.

The object of the amendment of this General Order is to simplify and clarify the original General Order 111. The new paragraph (1) is extracted from the former General Order 109 (2) (a) which has also been amended and simplified.
